Padma Shri Awardee | Chancellor, S-VYASA University
At The Arthah School, we are deeply privileged to be guided by the visionary leadership of Dr. H.R. Nagendra, an internationally renowned Yoga scientist, academician, and thought leader who exemplifies the very essence of purposeful education — the core philosophy of Arthah.
A distinguished alumnus of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, Dr. Nagendra holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and began his illustrious career with global research positions at the University of British Columbia, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, and Imperial College London. However, his life’s deeper calling led him to the path of Yoga and holistic education, where he has since dedicated over four decades to research, teaching, and nation-building.
As the Chancellor of S-VYASA University, Bengaluru — India’s premier Yoga university — Dr. Nagendra has played a pioneering role in integrating ancient wisdom with modern science. He has published over 200 research papers and 35 books on Yoga, guided nearly 50 PhD scholars, and contributed significantly to the national and international recognition of Yoga as a scientific discipline.
Recipient of the Padma Shri (2016) and numerous global honors — including from the United Nations, British Parliament, and Stanford University’s Top 2% Scientists List — Dr. Nagendra has held prestigious advisory positions with the Ministry of AYUSH, UGC, NCERT, WHO, and NITI Aayog, among others.
His association with The Arthah School is not just honorary — it is foundational. His lifelong commitment to purpose, values, and inner excellence deeply informs our educational philosophy. Under his inspiration, we strive to create an environment where students don’t just learn to succeed — they learn to serve, lead, and live with purpose.
